I was listening to Crash Test Dummies today and there is a line in the song that says ” Superman never made any money for saving the world from Solomon Grundy.”  First the really geeky part.  I have been listening to this song for many years and it never occured to me till today that Solomon Grundy was an evil character of the DC universe but never fought Superman.  He was a Green Lantern villian.  So of course this sends me to wikipedia to look around.  I was kind of right.  He only appears with Superman once, but it got me to reading about him he has a very long rich history in the DC World.

So long story short this is my Ode to Solomon Grundy with this 19th Century nursery rhyme where the name orginated:
