Oh what a year it was

Here we are at the end of another year. It’s amazing how fast they seem to go by. So much has happened this year, I don’t even know where to begin… At the beginning of the year Ariel turned the big 5 and we took an awesome trip to Disneyland. In March we got a huge shock when our landlord told us we’d have to move out because he couldn’t make the mortgage payments any more. Luckily we were able to rent the place next door, and we’re much happier there. We got pregnant in May and miscarried in June, but we’re pregnant again and looking forward to the new baby’s arrival in June (kind of ironic). Ariel started kindergarten in September, and my brother got married in October. We also celebrated our 2-year wedding anniversary in December. It’s definitely been a year of ups and downs (but mostly ups), but we made it through it like we always do. We’re hopeful for 2009 and looking forward to some big things happening. We’re looking to try to buy a house in the spring so we have more room (wish us luck!), come June we’ll have another little member of the Bruce family, and in the fall Ariel will be a 1st grader. Life is definitely full of surprises and I’m sure 2009 will be no different, but we’ll stick together and get through them all. As long as we have each other, that’s really all that matters.
Happy New Year everyone. Here’s to another crazy roller coaster ride of a year in this thing called life. Try not to ever take your fellow riders for granted–they’re the ones that make it all worthwhile.
Baby Watch

Dean and I have decided to create a website that’s all about baby. We’ll use it to track my progress, blog about what’s going on, and when the baby’s born we’ll post all of his/her pictures there. Check it out! http://www.babywatch09.com.
Adventures in Pregnancy, part 2

I had my third OB check on the 15th. It’s crazy how fast things are happening and how much reality is setting in. I’ve got a baby belly going on now. They’re already telling me to think about taking the AFP test (to find out if the baby has any chance of certain disabilities). I have to take it between December 25 and January 8. As much as I hate the thought, it’s probably best to take it. We’re also scheduled for an ultrasound January 12 to find out the sex of the baby. I have to go with a full bladder. Why is it they take an experience that should be incredibly amazing and make it miserable? Anyway, we’re excited to find out what it will be. I’m looking forward to being able to connect on that level with the baby, and register for baby stuff.
What do you guys think? Boy or girl? Any guesses?
